Since its foundation in 1948, the company has conducted in-house research and development of pharmaceuticals and other products to satisiy people's desire for health and beauty. In 1983, these efforts were rewarded with the successful development of the SOLinGEL water-solvent polymer technology. The transdermal absorption type skin adhesive that was developed using this technology opened a new market in the pharmaceutical industry and gave birth to new cosmetic and sundry products such as "cosmetics patch" and "health care patch". Following the Hyogo Factory, which was inaugurated in 1999, the Nara Factory started operations in 2002, steadily reinforcing production of medical drugs (topical and liquid products). In 2011 the company launched a joint venture in China with Standard Chem & Pharm, a Taiwanese pharmaceutical company, to build a production basis and commence contracted development and production of medical patches, thereby truly entering the global market.
